LETTERS FROM THE LAKESIDE
As winter finally loosens its icy grip on the Upstate, Heritage Lakes is shaking off the chill and springing to life! Longer days, warmer breezes, and the first blooms on trees and shrubs signal that it’s time to step outside and enjoy the fresh green lawns, sparkling lakes, and trails that are coming alive once again. Neighbors are returning to stroll, bike, and soak in the beauty of our community, making Heritage Lakes feel more vibrant than ever.

Spring also brings our feathered friends back to the neighborhood, and they’re busy little architects! Keep an eye out for robin eggs in their signature bright blue, the tiny speckled treasures of sparrows and wrens, or ground nests filled with duck and goose eggs. Whether you’re walking the trails or enjoying your own yard, take a moment to notice these little miracles of nature. Tread lightly, peek politely, and give these winged neighbors a safe spot to hatch their next generation—because nothing says “spring at Heritage Lakes” quite like the cheerful chorus of happy chirps echoing through our trees and along the water.

COMING EVENTS

EASTER EGG HUNT
March 28th | 10am-Noon
Hop on over and join us for one of our favorite traditions... our annual Easter Egg Hunt! Bring your baskets, bunny ears, and your sweet tooth as we scatter the lawn with colorful eggs and plenty of surprises. We'll meet up at the pool patio area for the exciting start of the hunt.
(Arrive early—this one starts fast!)

SPRING WORK DAY
April 18th | 9am-Noon
With spring comes the opportunity to refresh and care for the beautiful common grounds we all share. From planting and trimming to tidying and polishing, there’s something for everyone to help with. We’re always grateful for our regular volunteers—and we’d love to see some new faces join in!

(If it rains on the 18th, we'll move to the 25th)

RECENT WORK DONE
New Mulch
A big thank you to Matt and Russ Chiles of Biolawn for the terrific job mulching our common areas and trimming the shrubbery around the clubhouse. Their work has really freshened things up and helped set the tone for the season ahead.

Clubhouse Refresh
Our new Clubhouse Manager, Dawn Kovach, has been busy sprucing up the facility and we certainly appreciate the enthusiasm! Next up, the clubhouse will be getting a soft-wash treatment to have it looking its absolute best as we head into spring and summer events. Soft wash happens on Monday, March 30th.

TO BE DONE
Pool Deck Repair Coming
As we prepare for another great pool season, we’re excited to share that repairs to the pool decking will be completed ahead of opening day.

We’ve contracted with Concrete Fixers to professionally lift and level sections of sunken decking around the pool area. This work will improve both safety and appearance, ensuring a smoother, more enjoyable experience for everyone. Work is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks and should be completed in time for the start of pool season. We appreciate your patience during this improvement and look forward to welcoming everyone back to a refreshed pool area soon!

Security Camera System Review
The HLPOA Board is currently working through a detailed review of proposals for a new security camera system to serve the clubhouse, pool, and surrounding common areas. We’ve received three competitive bids, each requiring careful evaluation to ensure we select the best option in terms of coverage, reliability, and value for our community. This is an important step toward enhancing safety and protecting our shared spaces. We anticipate completing our review and making a final decision no later than the April board meeting.

ROTARY CLUB FIVE FORKS
Dee Vaughn—former board member, longtime resident, and dedicated community volunteer—is helping lead an effort to establish a new evening Rotary International club right here in the Five Forks area. With no current Rotary presence in Five Forks, this new club—sponsored by the Golden Strip Sunrise Rotary Club—aims to bring together neighbors, professionals, and community leaders for fellowship, service, and meaningful impact.

OUR CONDOLENCES...
Ms Sula Cox, resident of Heritage Lakes since 1999, passed away this February at the age of 94. She was known for her kindness that often involved unexpected gifts of fresh cut flowers from her garden to her neighbors and friends... even newcomers to our community.

Beloved neighbor, friend, husband, father and former Treasurer and board member Mark Brown passed this March. On behalf of the Heritage Lakes Community Property Owners Association, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

As we head into the heart of spring, we’re excited to see the return of Yard of the Month—and we’d love nothing more than to be surrounded by beautiful, well-kept homes throughout Heritage Lakes. Whether it’s fresh mulch, blooming flowers, or a neatly trimmed lawn, every effort helps showcase the pride we all share in our community. Think of it as a friendly neighborhood showdown: who will claim bragging rights this month?

We also want to remind residents that HOA fees are now past due. A number of accounts remain outstanding, with some significantly in arrears. Timely payment of dues is essential to maintaining our amenities and community standards. Please be aware that continued non-payment may result in further action, including the filing of a lien against your property and potential legal proceedings up to and including forced sale to recover past due balances. Thank you to all those who have paid and are current—and for continuing to make Heritage Lakes a welcoming and vibrant place to call home.
